13th Annual Fall Concert
Save the date for our 13th Annual Fall Concert on Sunday, October 27th at Lincoln Hall. Oregon Koto-Kai will prepare a variety of ensemble koto pieces to share in celebration of the Sawai Koto Institute’s 45th Anniversary.

Festival of Arts in Gresham
Join us in Gresham for the Festival of Arts. This free, family-friendly event will feature handcrafted art from more than 125 artists around the Pacific Northwest, live music and local cuisine. OKK players will be performing at the World Music Stage on 3rd St. and Main Ave. Here’s a map to help you find us.

Student Recital & CD Release Party
We're proud to announce that on June 9th we'll be releasing our first album, Kin, both digitally and on CD! We are entering our 13th year at the time of this album’s release. As such, the title Kin refers to the name of the 13th and highest string on a standard koto and symbolizes our progress over the years.
On June 9th, we will host our annual Student recital and CD Release Party at Leaven Community Center. This is an Invite Only event, but rest assured you’ll have a chance to purchase our CD at future events.

Mt. Hood Community College—AAPI Heritage Night
Mt. Hood Community College is celebrating Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month with a special AAPI Heritage Night. This will be a free family-friendly evening of performances and food!
Oregon Koto-Kai players will perform from 6:00pm-7:00pm.

Clark College Sakura Festival
Oregon Koto-Kai will be performing on the Clark College main campus for the annual Sakura Festival.
Opening remarks to take place at 1:00 p.m. in the Royce Pollard Japanese Friendship Garden* with music.
Celebration begins at 2:30 p.m. in Gaiser Student Center. Oregon Koto-Kai members will perform at this time.

The cherry trees at Gresham Japanese Garden have reached full bloom already, so this event has unfortunately been cancelled. We look forward to joining this event next year!

Gresham Japanese Garden-Yozakura Festival
From March 27-April 7 the Gresham Japanese Garden will be illuminating 13 mature ‘Akebono’ cherry trees from 7pm-11pm. Listen to sakura-inspired arrangements while sipping green tea and enjoying a traditional sakura sweet. Bring a blanket and enjoy the show and scenery. This is a free event.
– 1st set: 7:45pm-8:10pm
– 2nd set: 8:30pm-8:55pm

Lunar New Year Celebration
We are looking forward to joining McMinnville’s 2nd Annual Lunar New Year Celebration hosted by the Asian Heritage Association. This all day even opens its doors at 11:00am and our ensemble members will play at 4:00pm. Admission to the event is free. and there are many activities to be enjoyed. Can’t wait to see you there!

12th Annual Fall Koto Concert *SOLD OUT*
Nearly four years since hosting our last live event, we are excited to be back at Lincoln Recital Hall. Join us on a musical journey from traditional to contemporary pieces performed by our ensemble koto musicians. Our program will include “Fuji” composed by Somei Otsuki, “Yume no Wa” (Dreamscape) by Hikaru Sawai and “Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence” by Ryuichi Sakamoto. The performance will also feature a beautiful display of traditional kimonos from Toshimi Tanaka's collection & Meditation Calligraphy by Eri Fukase Luman. Whether you are familiar with the koto, or it’s your first time witnessing this 13-string Japanese Zither, we have a special set planned for you. We look forward to seeing you there!

The Benton County Historical Society presents Music at the Museum. Oregon Koto-Kai will be performing at the Corvallis Museum. The concert is free and seating is limited and is available on a first-come first-served basis.
